| President's Message Our State Tournament is over and the checks are sent. Congratulations to all the money winners and also a big Thank You to all our bowlers for your support. The LCO Association and the Proprietors of Lancer and Orchard Lanes also need a big THANK YOU for a great tournament. At our Annual Meeting the delegation voted to raise our Tournament Entry to $22.00 per event from $20.00 and the Entry Fee for Hi-Five to $100.00 per Team. They also voted to take the 2012 Tournament to Idaho Falls. Remember next years Tournament will be hosted by Twin Falls. National Convention was held in Reno again this year. Workshops were held on Thursday and Friday the best and most informative Workshops that I have ever attended. One of the most important ones was on Taxes and the fact that all of the USBC Associations are under one umbrella as a non profit organization so if ONE assoc. does not send in the 900 tax form for a nonprofit organization we all could lose that status so it is very important that we all make sure that your Association Managers have filed the 990. Saturday was Election and Legislative day. There were 24 proposed amendments on the floor for vote and of those 24 only 8 were approved and 18 rejected. Darlene Baker was named the new President of USBC and four new Directors will take office Aug. 1, they are Carolyn Dorin Ballard, Michael Italia, Mark Martin and Deanna Rose. Susan G. Komen Bowl for the cure was presented with a check from the USBC bowlers for 1.1 million dollars which brought our Grand Total to over 9 Million Dollars Have a good summer and hope to see all of you at Jamboree in Pocatello in September. Saundra _______________________________ 2nd Vice President Message Once again our State Tournament was a great success. Many thanks to the LCO Association for all their hard work. Thank-you to all the directors who sent me the information for the Memorial Service, and please, if you have any ideas about the Memorial please share them with me. Remember ladies, really don't want the whole obituary out of paper, just send a card with the information or you e-mail me. Don't forget, we are going to Twin Falls next year. The winter leagues are winding down and I for one am looking forward to a great summer. I wish you all a safe and happy summer season, and hope to see all of you at Jamboree in September Sincerely, Sharon Howe 3rd Vice President Message I just want to send a very big THANK YOU to the LCO association for doing a wonderful job of hosting the State Tournament this year. This is no small job. Also, thank you to all the bowlers that made the trip. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Also, just a quick reminder to bring your thinking caps and photos or scrapbook items to the workshop at Jamboree in September. We will be going through what the Association already has and deciding how much stuff to scan into the computer in order to condense all the photos and show them as a slide show during the state events. Some of these photos will have people in them that I don't know so see if any of your older bowlers would like to come to Jamboree and help us play the name game. I wish you all a safe summer !!!!!!! | 1st Vice President Message Hello to all Idaho Women Bowlers. Wow, it's May already and maybe spring is on its way. With all the bad weather lately, you really have to wonder. By not most leagues are finished, and everyone's thoughts are turning to summer fun. My question is how many of you were elected to hold an office position in your league next season? Have you been an officer in the past, or were you railroaded by your team members. Many do not realize that there are rules, and responsibilities for league officer. Tge officers duties are necessary for well run league, and to protect the bowlers and the officers. A complete list of duties and obligations are listed in the USBC Playing Rules book, but I would like to touch base on few important ones. The President needs to make sure the bank account is set up properly, and to verify the balance every month. (This is necessary for USBC bonding.) She needs to appoint a prize committee and an audit committee and see that they complete their duties. It is helpful if she is very familiar with the league rules to enable her to deal with possible problems. A league Vice-President should br able to take over for the President whenever necessary.. A good league secretary is invaluable. She is responsible for collecting your USBC membership dues, and submitting the application , along with your league certification to you local Association Manager. She is to maintain a weekly standing sheet with all scores bowled for teams and individual members. Unless the league elects a separate treasurer, the secretary/treasurer is responsible to deposit all league fees collected in a timely manner. Her other duties are numerous so please make sure you elect someone who is capable of handling those duties. Most leagues do compensate their league secretary a small amount, but they are generally underpaid, and deserve a huge thank you at the end of the season. You league Board of Directors is usually the officers and team captains. The team captain duties are also defined in the USBC Playing Rules Handbook, but remember, your league rules may have different rules that apply. Just remember the fun and the friends you make when bowlling on a league will often last a lifetime and a well organized league is easy with good officers. Have a great summer and hope to see you all in Twin Falls for the 2011 State Championship Tournament. Remember to Nominate for the IBC Hall of Fame coming in September. Two Special Awards - opal necklaces for the 300 and Series - 757 went to Rosie Soto and Jolene Stoner. The other spcial award for Achievement Award went to Elisa Tobia. The expressions on these ladies faces were priceless. They were real pleased with them I had talked to the association about the new changes that will be coming up in the fall and encouraged them to come and bowl in Twin Falls next years. Talked to them about tournament dates and bowling jamboree in the fall. Elaine and I had some time for open/question period and gave each of them a chance to ask questions and it turned out to be a lot of fun. There are great ladies in the Wood River Bowling Association and even seen some of them bowl afterwards. We did mention about the youth scholarships and found there are a few of youth that might be eligible for them. I just wanted to thank them for supporting the game of bowling and always coming out and fun with good old friends along with meeting new ones also. State Pepsi Tournament will be underway at Bowladrome - Twin Falls and Snake River Bowl - Burley the weekend of May 1st and 2nd. Most of the youth bowlers that competed in the regional bowling tournament help in Filer, Idaho - April 3rd qualified and will completing the weekend. The State Pepsi had youth bowlers from all over the state and the friendship of youth are renewed once again. If you ever have a chance, come out and support the youth bowlers like playing agame or just watching them. I have had the chance of watching these young bowlers using their skills and knowledge to overcome the great game of bowling and Whoa!!! Hoping all of you had a great summer and see you again in the fall. News from Emmett - Judy Jordan I was invited by Saundra to stand in for her to present out scholarship to Janelle Ford at the Emmett High School's scholarship assembly. I was very honored to present this to janelle as she grew up in our center literally. Her mom bowled all the time she carried Janelle, and afer she was bown, she was in her carrier, at the center several times a week. Her dad, Tony Ford, bowled the 2nd 300 game ever bowled in Emmett. Janelle started bowling as soon as he could push a ball down the alley, and has been doing it ever since. She is a very good bowler and really enjoys it. I was very pround to stand in front of all the students, parents & dignitaries and honor her. |
